We Take Online Security Seriously

At Elgin State Bank, we don't think there's anything more important than your privacy and security while using our Website and Online Banking Services.

We're committed to taking every precaution to protect and safeguard your privacy, just as we do at each of our walk-in bank branches.

All Internet transactions, such as transfers of funds between Elgin State Bank accounts, and third-party bill payment, are conducted in a secure environment to protect your privacy.

If you have questions about the privacy or accuracy of your account information, please contact us immediately by calling1-847-888-7950.

Online Security

In order to use our online banking service, your browser must support the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. SSL provides a secure channel to send and receive data over the Internet using encryption capabilities. Encryption scrambles messages exchanged between your browser and our online banking server. For your protection, our servers require the browser to connect at 128-bit encryption. Users will be unable to access online banking functions at lesser encryption levels, and may require some end users to upgrade their browser.

For all online transactions, Elgin State Bank identifies you through the use of multi-factor authentication prior to allowing online access to any of our Online Banking and Bill-Pay services. Multi-factor authentication adds extra layers of online security to prevent unauthorized access to your accounts and reinforces that you are at our financial institution’s Internet Banking website. Multi-layer security also exists that allows the system to authenticate your computer through use of cookies in order to ensure that your sign-on is not a fraudulent attempt to access account information.

When you apply for Online Banking, a Login ID is generated for you by Elgin State Bank to identify who you are, while also allowing us to consolidate multiple account relationships that you may have into one number. Upon your first login, a Secure Access Code will be sent to your predetermined email address or telephone number. This Secure Access Code is temporary and allows you to create your password. We do not recommend you use a significant date (an anniversary, a birthday), your phone number or extensions, or even your street address as your password. We do not recommend you include the name of your spouse, or children, local sports teams, or other such easily guessed items. A strong password should consist of a combination of alpha, numeric, and special characters.

It is very important that you keep your Login ID and Password secure to prevent unauthorized use of your account. Do not, under any circumstances, disclose your  Login ID or Password by telephone, electronically, or to anyone claiming to represent Elgin State Bank. Elgin State Bank's employees do not need, and should not ask for this information. In the event this should ever happen, contact us immediately to report the incident.

If you forget your password (or believe your password has been compromised), please call our Customer Care Center at 1-847-760-3380.

Security Tips for Your Protection:

  • Never share your Access Codes (Login ID and Password) with anyone.
  • Select a password that is hard for others to guess, but easy for you to remember.
  • Don't leave your computer unattended in the middle of an Online Banking or Bill-Pay session.
